What Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas need to be of high quality for the ATP Finals in Turin
It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting ATP Tour year-end races in recent memory, with eight players currently battling it out for the final three spots.
Taylor Fritz was the last to qualify for the ATP Finals. The American made it after Andrey Rublev left the Paris Masters.
The runner-up at the US Open qualified for the ATP Finals together with Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev.
Fritz, Alcaraz, Zverev and Medvedev all currently remain in the Masters 1,000 event, but Sinner has withdrawn from the Paris Masters.
Novak Djokovic also withdrew from the Paris Masters, the Serb is currently in sixth place in the Race To Turin.
What players like Alex de Minaur and Grigor Dimitrov need to qualify for the ATP Finals
Directly behind him are Casper Ruud and Rublev, both of whom had to be eliminated in the round of 32 in the French capital.
This means that the three players currently in the final qualifying spots will not take part in the Paris Masters. Journalist Jose Morgado now details what the other players competing for a spot need to do this week to continue their season.
Alex de Minaur
– if he loses in the QFs: Rublev hands over
– if he loses in the SFs: overtakes Djokovic and Ruud
– if he loses in the final or Paris wins: qualifies for the ATP Finals
Grigor Dimitrov
– if he reaches the semi-finals: stays alive in the race
– if he reaches the final: overtakes Rublev
– if he wins the title: overtakes Ruud and Djokovic, qualifies for the ATP Finals
Stefanos Tsitsipas
– if he reaches the final: stays alive in the race
– if he wins the title: He overtakes Rublev, Ruud and Djokovic and arrives last week with an almost guaranteed qualification
Holger Rune
– if he wins the title: stays alive in the race
Jack Draper
– if he wins the title: stays alive in the race
The draw for the Paris Masters is completely open after Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal
Qualifying for the ATP Finals will likely come down to the last minute, with the Paris Masters playing a crucial role.
Alcaraz and Tsitsipas have already secured a place in the last 16 at this point, and Australia’s Jordan Thompson has also made it to this round.
The draw has of course tightened considerably after the late withdrawal of the ill world number one Sinner.

And the absence of 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic will also please players like De Minaur and Dimitrov, as the Serb is a record seven-time winner of the event.
However, there is the presence of Alcaraz, who is likely to be difficult to beat in Paris given his current form.
