Racing tips for Wednesday
- Newton Abbot
2.00: Hymac 15/8 (1 point)
2.30 p.m.: Dr. TJ Eckleburg 5/1 each way (1.5 points)
3.00: Vocito 5/4 (2 points)
4.00: Livin On Luco 17/2 each way (1 point)
Hymac
A big bang faces a £10 penalty for his wins at Haydock and Uttoxeter, keeping him ahead of winner Alex Chadwick.
His win over Livin On Luco was comfortable but was expected as a half favorite and could be penalized by this increase in weights along with a penalty against the jointly ranked players Hymac.
However, he has only been seen hurdling twice in 2022 and appears to be using this switch back to hurdling to continue the season over hurdles.
But his placing in second place, a nose behind Saint Davy, worked out very well and could be a sign that this horse, who has now run very well over hurdles and was in consideration for the fourth time last time, is even more so has to offer in Cheltenham.
He previously finished third and second, with his debut over hurdles ending abruptly when he pulled out four hurdles.
The pair seem to enjoy longer distances, but this expansive 2.5m course should test them on the heavy ground.
Kruger Park ran very well at Newbury in March, beating Il Va De Soi by more than eight lengths.
For this victory he was increased by 11 pounds, which apparently prevented him from following up this victory by finishing second at the Uttoxeter Proving Grounds.
He has the same weight here as Hymac and he has Harry Cobden on board, contrary to Freddie Gingell’s claim that he is giving in Hymac more of an opportunity.
Dr. TJ Eckleburg
Fast dollar Has every bit of potential as a 14/1 shot in a small field, weighing 4lb less than his last win at Wincanton in January.
He has only been seen once since, when he ran well at Ludlow, also at 122.
The gelding had wind surgery in August and resurfaced at 66/1 over top weight hurdles at Wincanton.
Should be able to run better over obstacles after the first run of the season.
But he’s taking on three younger horses who could make a name for themselves with their seasonal re-emergence.
Royal jewel is yet to be seen over hurdles and could be capable of striking on debut after showing good form over hurdles at Exeter last season.
However, Champagne super over has reached a dangerous mark and is hoping for a comeback to within 2 m.
The nine-year-old achieved a score of 137 in the hurdles and ran a pretty respectable 134 over 2m in his pursuit debut in 2021.
His return after a 550 day break did not bring good results in hurdles and failed at Uttoxeter last time out, which could be another reason for a return over a shorter distance.
However, it is difficult to support him on the first use, so Dr. That leaves TJ Eckleburg, who ran wide over fences several times during a busy season last season.
He copes well in difficult conditions and is much more attractive than the others here, especially because he is only six years old.
Vocito
This is an interesting hurdles competition with only six runners, most of whom are returning to hurdles for the first time in a long time after chasing gardener, Royal Mer And Celtic art.
Great fortune Seems like the Skeltons prefer longer distances that run well, but it’s not attractive for this trip Vocito That really is the case for coach Olly Murphy.
Both horses have had many winners recently and have continued to move up the weights. Vocito has 17 hurdle races and just three wins, but all three have come in the last four races.
And it seems that this shipyard is doing well since being located there in May 2024.
Livin On Luco
Livin On Luco was mentioned above and is also running at Newton Abbot today at a great price.
As a hurdler, he consistently placed in the top two in his last four events and only managed to do so once in his last seven, when he fell behind Isaac Des Obeaux.
Walks well on heavy ground and appears to be a horse that can go over fences well.
