UNSTOPPABLE ENGLAND: Powerhouse Performance Secures Second Straight Series Sweep Over Samoa
.England 34-16 Samoa: Hosts Claim 2-0 Series Victory
.George Williams Shines in Six-Try Triumph
England completed a clean sweep over Samoa with another strong performance from Shaun Wane’s squad, dominating the visitors once again.
Knowing that a win would secure their second consecutive Test series whitewash after last year’s 3-0 triumph over Tonga, England faced a more formidable opponent in Samoa, who were World Cup finalists two years ago. However, Wane’s team proved themselves to be worthy winners once more.
Under the leadership of their captain, George Williams, and with stellar support from Herbie Farnworth, England scored six tries to Samoa’s three, achieving a comfortable victory that sets them up well for next year’s Ashes series.
Remarkably, England has not lost a match in two years, dating back to Samoa’s semi-final victory in the 2022 World Cup. With the Kangaroos set to tour England in 2025 for a three-match series, Wane is cautiously optimistic about his young and talented side’s potential to compete with the best in the world.
Samoa played their part in a thrilling two-Test series, initially taking the lead in Leeds with a try from Shawn Blore. However, England responded with 20 unanswered points to establish a solid halftime lead, with Williams instrumental in their success.
His precise pass set up Liam Marshall for a debut try, followed by a break from Williams that led to his own score. Matty Ashton then capped off a strong move to extend the lead to 16-6 before Farnworth finished another attack initiated by Williams.
Samoa narrowed the gap early in the second half with a try from Jake Tago, but England quickly restored their 16-point advantage when Farnworth scored his second try after a fantastic run. He then assisted Jack Welsby for England’s sixth try.
Jeremiah Nanai’s late try for Samoa added a bit of respectability to the scoreline, but it was clear which team dominated as England now sets its sights on the upcoming challenge from the Kangaroos in 2025.
