Jersey is currently hosting one of the world’s top rugby teams as the Springboks prepare for their upcoming UK matches.
Springboks at Coinshares Park
The South African team has set up camp on the island, training at Coinshares Park while also taking time to explore what Jersey has to offer. Islanders have been eager to see the world champions in action, with the Springboks’ training match selling out. Over 2,600 fans attended on Saturday.
All proceeds from ticket sales are being donated to Jersey RFC and the Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled.
The 2023 Rugby World Cup winners are on the island due to its exceptional facilities, which are ideal for their training needs.
Grant Williams – Scrumhalf
Scrumhalf Grant Williams shared with Channel 103 what the team has been up to during their downtime. “We went for a cold dip, explored the island, and enjoyed a sauna,” he said. “The facilities are amazing, and the people have been so welcoming—really enjoying our time here.”
Prop Thomas du Toit also expressed his love for Jersey. “This place is unbelievable,” he said. “It’s very refreshing to be here and see how accommodating the people are. Everyone greets you on the streets, and the facilities are brilliant.”
