Cyclist creates Halloween ride by taking skeletal route in Leicester | British News
A cyclist traced the shape of a skeleton on a Halloween bike ride.
It took Rebecca Laurel, 25, out Leicestermore than six hours to complete their “scary” cycle through the city.
The Skeleton Shape is part of a series of bike rides with different Halloween themes. The route is plotted on a digital map when a device with GPS tracking records their journey.
“I did a pumpkin, a ghost and a witch, so a skeleton was one of the last options,” Ms Laurel told the PA news agency.
She started in Fosse Park in the city center, cycled around the Soar Valley Way to sculpt the skeleton’s hips, before heading south to draw the legs and finishing her ride in Braunstone.
But there were also some challenging parts. She had to cycle the same route several times.
“At the end of the legs and at each rib you go in one direction, then turn around and go back in the same direction, which slows down the route significantly,” she said.
“It was a large part of the city center, so it is slower and longer than a normal journey.”
However, the idea of making art through movement is not new.
So-called “Strava Art” — named after a device that records GPS data during exercise — has become popular online.
Runners and cyclists have been competing for years to create elaborate images on a map and post them on social media.
