On the back of an encouraging performance in a race at Newcastle that produced some eventual winners, FLYING SCOTSMAN It is believed to be a first success since joining Ben Haslam. Unique Spirit (second choice) deserves respect, which is maintained in this C&D, while Catalan King is still open to further improvements to his handicaps and Zephlyn looks solid at AW.

An attractive brand behind it and with Silvestre De Sousa at the helm, NELSON GAY is taken to regain the winning thread. Love Wars (second choice) and A Girl Named Ivy have chances at this level provided they surface well, while Water Of Leith is likely to remain competitive.

A chance is taken GANESHAwho wouldn’t be the first choice for 2024 form but is interesting due to a very favorable note returning to the scene of his last 2-year win. Spirit Of Applause, who has been looking solid lately, is the second choice ahead of Zuffolo, Gustav Graves and Leodis Dream.

The in-form Richard Hughes has had a great season with his two-year-old AW players, with 14 winners from 40 runners and a great performance Poutingdriving without the hood down after a short break is likely to increase the numbers further. An 11lb rise will test lightweight Musselburgh winner Lady Roxby, leaving Force And Valor as second choice.

The best may be yet to come STRIKE THE CLOCKwho has settled in better of late and seems capable of more on this trip, with his recent third being heavily promoted since then. Kokinelli is another player to consider in a handicap where all seven could have a case for themselves.

Bushfire returns to Tapeta with a mark 9 pounds lower than last fall’s C&D win and is one to consider as a first-timer, but preference goes to the equally heavily handicapped players KING OF YORKwhose 7f win here in March was 9lb higher. The recent victory of the often slow-starting Dr. Rio has been well promoted since then but he fell in the trip and needs to improve on previous Tapeta performances.
