Scotland Team V Australia: Gregor Townsend Makes Sweeping Changes As Fully-loaded Side Named For Wallabies Showdown
Gregor Townsend has mostly kept the same lineup that played against the Springboks for Scotland’s last match of the Autumn Nations Series against Australia at Murrayfield.
Loose forward Matt Fagerson will wear the number eight jersey as he earns his 50th Test cap for Scotland, joined in the back row by Jamie Ritchie and Rory Darge.
Scotland Ready For Wallabies Challenge
Australia is aiming for a historic Grand Slam this November after victories over England and Wales, and Gregor Townsend is not taking any chances, naming a near full-strength team after giving several players a chance to impress against Portugal.
Pierre Schoeman and Zander Fagerson remain as Scotland’s starting props, with Ewan Ashman at hooker. Scott Cummings returns from suspension to partner Grant Gilchrist in the second row following his red card against South Africa.
Darcy Graham, who missed the Springboks game, is back in the starting lineup, joining Duhan van der Merwe in the back three. Both players are among Scotland’s top try scorers in history. Blair Kinghorn also starts in the back three.
Sione Tuipulotu will captain the team from the centre, partnered by Huw Jones, while Finn Russell and Ben White are the starting fly-half and scrum-half, respectively.
On the bench, Dylan Richardson, Rory Sutherland, and Will Hurd provide front-row cover, with Alex Craig and Josh Bayliss available as forward replacements. George Horne, Tom Jordan, and Kyle Rowe complete the bench.
