The 2025 Tour de France route has been revealed, Tom Pidcock’s location is in doubt and rumors about Mark Cavendish are circulating
“We have to accept that Pogačar has raised the bar even higher this year. We have to pay attention to everything to beat him. We know we have a big task ahead of us.”
Chasing the stage for Ineos, but will Tom Pidcock be along for the ride?
Owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to win the Tour de France. But the problem is that he doesn’t have the drivers for it. Ineos is in trouble. The team recently announced another major shakeup of its staff, meaning the transition years will likely continue for a while.
In the overall standings, Carlos Rodriguez has finished fifth and seventh in the last two years, and the Spaniard is still only 23rd. However, it is difficult to imagine him being able to close the gap on the top rivals enough to be able to keep up.
Geraint Thomas, the team’s most reliable Grand Tour rider in recent years, will be in the final year of his contract. And Tom Pidcock may not be in the team at all. A heated argument between Ineos’ star driver and the team management leads him to look for exit options.
If he rides, would he try the GC? Maybe now that the Olympics are over he could devote himself fully to this task? It feels like stage hunting is probably the most likely destination for the British super team.
Mark Cavendish is cautious about the future
The most successful Tour de France stage winner of all time was present at the Palais de Congrès in Paris and gave a cryptic answer when asked about his future plans. Cavendish is, of course, in the final year of his career.
After delaying his resignation by 12 months, a record 35. After winning the Tour stage, he can supposedly retire happily. But it seems he still doesn’t know exactly what his future plans are.
